Stranded... I see there was a 1973 series with Orson Wells called Great Mysteries and there was an adaptation of Monkeys Paw .... It's a bit earlier than Tales of the Unexpected and would probably be what I remember ... I was much younger and it was very scary ! Looks like it was never repeated either.

How about the twilight zone one where the helicopter falls and decapitates the actor and 2 children?

How about the Hammer House of Horror? Always remember the one where blood starts coming out of the pipes at a kids birthday party. Nice.

Bish Bash Bosh "The werewolf episode with Diana dors...it scared the shit out of me for years. I saw it a few years back again and the werewolf didn't look scary."
That was actually a "Hammer House of Horror" episode, not a Tale Of The Unexpected.

there was a tales from the crypt episode which still gives me nightmares. long story short:
woman i prison
befriends dr
says he can help her escape
next time she hears the death bell get in the coffin. get buried, then he will come back at night and dig her free
she gets in and waits...waits...waits. nothing. lights a match, the dr is the dead person in the coffin.
ends with her screaming uncontrollably, camera pans outside of coffin to sun going down in remote graveyard

There are two I remember. The first one when a bloke kills his wife and gets away with it. He meets up with another girl who is blind , shacks up with her and she ends up getting her eyes replaced (Yes I know-might be in the future) and his dead wife's eyes have been used. The other involves shyster antique dealer who stumbles across an old lady with a battered Chippendale dresser and tells her he would buy but that it's worth nothing. When he returns for it , she had broken it up to make it easier to carry.

The Monkey's Paw is a classic of English, Victorian horror. It was reworked, or just ripped off for loads of different things. Don't remember a Tales of the Unexpected version, but there might be one?
You sure you're not confusing it with the version in the seventies Tales from the Crypt? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tales_from_the_Crypt_(film)
